The Vet Depot is Flora's only free-standing veterinary clinic and boarding facility, and one of the few locally owned practices in Madison County. It's a product of many years of education, thought, design, and preparation. From the building design, the equipment utilized, and the staff you'll interact with, what you'll find is an extremely well operated clinic to enable the residents of Central Mississippi access to high-quality and trustworthy care for their pets. Our team holds one another to a very high standard, and we look forward to giving you our best every single day. We don't sleep well at night if we aren't offering the best possible care to you and your pets.
Meet Dr. Johnson
Dr. Johnson was born and raised in Jackson, TN. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State in 2014. He went on to earn his Doctorate from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in the top 10% of his class in 2018.
After graduation he practiced veterinary medicine and surgery in Gluckstadt, MS for approximately six years. Dr. Johnson was honored with the esteemed "Young Veterinarian of The Year Award" by the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association in 2024. Later that year, he opened The Flora Veterinary Depot with the goal of becoming Madison County's most trusted veterinary clinic.
While in veterinary school, Dr. Johnson served as the Vet Aspire Coordinator, Interview Mentor, and Vice President of the Veterinary Business Management Association. He also served as the phase one student body representative from 2015-2016 and went on to serve as the phase two student body representative from 2016-2017. After graduation, he served on the Interview Board for admissions. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, as well as the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Johnson also maintains his status as a USDA Accredited Veterinarian.
Dr. Johnson and his wife Madelyne have three wonderful children: Coy (2017), Ella Rae (2020), and Anne Walker (2022). They are active members of Madison Heights Church. The Johnson's have a black lab named "Gauge" and a cat named "Kitty". Outside of his career, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his family outdoors, and can be found hunting or fishing on most weekends.

We don't take your trust lightly, and we want you to have a chance to briefly get to know some of the people caring for your fur babies prior to your first visit. Hallie is a Flora native and a 2019 graduate of Madison Central High School. She is an animal lover and cares for her goats, chickens, cats and dogs at home! Hallie's love for animals led her to The Vet Depot, and she can typically be found with a puppy in her lap managing the front desk. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and friend's at their farm. Hallie's bubbly personality is hard to miss when you visit The Vet Depot.

Destiny is a native of Madison, MS. Growing up she enjoyed playing softball and hanging out with friends. She is a 2021 graduate of Germantown High School and has been in the field of veterinary medicine for nearly five years. Destiny has one playful dog named Harper who is a frequent visitor to The Vet Depot! Destiny is a compassionate, experienced member of the team and can't wait to help care for you pets.

Madelyne is one of the friendliest faces you’ll see around The Depot! She attended Mississippi State University and went on to complete her nursing degree in 2014. Madelyne worked as a nurse at Columbus Orthopedic Clinic in Columbus, MS prior to moving back to Central MS. Here at home, she is a mother to her three children, co-owns The Menu Mamas, and helps guests feel at home around The Vet Depot. She can be typically be found watering the flowers, answering the phones, or operating the front desk! Madelyne enjoys her family, cooking, and exercising.

Jessie is a native of the community of Pisgah, MS. She is a dedicated veterinary technician with nine years of experience in the field of veterinary medicine helping care for animals. Jessie and her husband David have one son named Haythen (2020), along with three dogs, two cats, and one beloved beta fish! Her passion is to be a voice for pets and assist their owners in enhancing their pets' health and well-being. When your pet is at The Depot, you can rest assured they are in great hands with Jessie being their nurse!
Outside of work, Jessie enjoys wildlife photography and exploring God's great outdoors with her family. She looks forward to sharing her wealth of experience, knowledge, and love for animals with all of you!

Christian is our groomer at The Depot. January marks a year of experience in the grooming business for Christian. He values the importance of both pet care and quality grooming. With previous training at a grooming shop, he prioritizes ensuring pets feel comfortable and safe in their environment. Christian offers a range of services, including full grooms, mini grooms, baths, and specialized puppy grooms to help young dogs acclimate to grooming, this groomer emphasizes open communication and relationship-building with pet owners. Christian is committed to delivering exceptional service and he looks forward to connecting with clients and their furry companions. Outside of grooming, Christian enjoys singing and is actively involved in their church, First Baptist Church of Flora.

Maily Jourdan is one of our kennel techs. She is a Flora native and a senior at Tri-County Academy. Her favorite hobbies involve arts and crafts. Her love of animals brought her to The Depot and her goal in life is to be the best person she can be with what she is given.
