The Vet Depot is Flora's only free-standing veterinary clinic and boarding facility, and one of the few locally owned practices in Madison County. It's a product of many years of education, thought, design, and preparation. From the building design, the equipment utilized, and the staff you'll interact with, what you'll find is an extremely well operated clinic to enable the residents of Central Mississippi access to high-quality and trustworthy care for their pets. Our team holds one another to a very high standard, and we look forward to giving you our best every single day. We don't sleep well at night if we aren't offering the best possible care to you and your pets.

Meet Dr. Johnson

Dr. Johnson was born and raised in Jackson, TN. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Mississippi State in 2014. He went on to earn his Doctorate from Mississippi State University College of Veterinary Medicine where he graduated in the top 10% of his class in 2018.

After graduation he practiced veterinary medicine and surgery in Gluckstadt, MS for approximately six years. Dr. Johnson was honored with the esteemed "Young Veterinarian of The Year Award" by the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association in 2024. Later that year, he opened The Flora Veterinary Depot with the goal of becoming Madison County's most trusted veterinary clinic.

While in veterinary school, Dr. Johnson served as the Vet Aspire Coordinator, Interview Mentor, and Vice President of the Veterinary Business Management Association. He also served as the phase one student body representative from 2015-2016 and went on to serve as the phase two student body representative from 2016-2017. After graduation, he served on the Interview Board for admissions. He is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, as well as the Mississippi Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Johnson also maintains his status as a USDA Accredited Veterinarian.

Dr. Johnson and his wife Madelyne have three wonderful children: Coy (2017), Ella Rae (2020), and Anne Walker (2022). They are active members of Madison Heights Church where Dr. Johnson serves as deacon. The Johnson's have a golden retriever named "Crew” and a cat named "Kitty". Outside of his career, Dr. Johnson enjoys spending time with his family outdoors, and can be found hunting or fishing on most weekends.

Meet Dr. Funderburg

Dr. Hadley Funderburg was originally born in New Orleans, LA, then moved to Jackson, MS with her family after Hurricane Katrina. She has since been a Jackson, MS local for almost 20 years. As a high school senior at Jackson Academy, Dr. Funderburg was accepted into Mississippi State University’s Early Entry Program for Veterinary Medicine. She went on to complete three years of undergraduate studies before officially matriculating into the College of Veterinary Medicine.

In the spring of 2024, Dr. Funderburg was inducted into the Society of Phi Zeta for ranking scholastically in the top 10% of her class. Dr. Funderburg then earned her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine as a member of the class of 2025. Her areas of specific interest include internal medicine, oncology, nutrition, and client education.

Dr. Funderburg and her husband Jack are active members of St. Joseph Catholic Church and have a golden retriever named Weezie. Outside of veterinary medicine, the Funderburgs thoroughly enjoy cooking and hosting for their family and friends. No holiday goes uncelebrated! When in season, their most favorite thing to host is a crawfish boil.
